Sir Keir Starmer plans to press allies to supply Ukrainian forces with further extended-range weaponry to target Russian targets during talks in the UK capital on Friday.

Sir Keir is set to welcome Ukraine's leader the Ukrainian head of state alongside the so-called "group of committed partners", comprising more than 20 of Ukraine's allies who have committed to provide Kyiv security guarantees once a ceasefire is brokered.

Ukraine's president has been urging for several weeks for additional advanced missile technology from Western nations, a step that Russia has cautions would worsen the conflict.

Ukraine's leader is coming from Belgium, where he conferred with European Union officials on Thursday seeking economic assistance.

"The single figure participating in current hostilities who does not want to stop the war is the Russian leader," Sir Keir remarked.

Sir Keir will also declare that a hundred further air defence missiles will be supplied to Ukraine earlier than planned, as outlined in a £1.6bn deal concluded between the United Kingdom and Ukraine in last spring.

Global Backing

Ukraine's leader travels following two diplomatic wins recently: the US President's move to enact further sanctions against the Russian government, and the European Union consenting to fund Ukraine's financial gap.

Sir Keir is aiming to continue the forward movement by intensifying the leverage on Moscow to discuss a conclusion to the war.

The Prime Minister will urge participants to increase the provision of advanced missile technology following an effective strike on an industrial facility in the Bryansk region, Russia, using Britain-delivered Storm Shadow missiles.

"Furthermore, his brutal attacks on young children in a preschool recently make that abundantly clear," he added.

A pair of children were included in no fewer than seven fatally wounded in multiple Russian strikes on Ukraine, which hit a nursery in the major urban center Kharkiv.

Financial Discussions

Sir Keir will discuss with partner nations on methods to remove Russia's petroleum resources off the global market.

They will furthermore consider employing frozen Russian assets to supply Ukraine with monetary support, though the proposal experienced divided opinions and legal hurdles at the EU conference on the previous day.

The EU opted against consenting to a proposal to use approximately €140 billion in blocked Moscow funds to financially prop up the Ukrainian economy.

However, the participants decided to assist with Kyiv's "economic requirements" for the next two years.

United States also announced sanctions on recently against Russia's two largest petroleum firms, Rosneft Oil and the private firm, as part of efforts to apply financial pressure on Russia to begin hostility discussions.

Moscow launched its comprehensive attack of the country in February 2022. Russian troops currently controls about 20% of the country's land, including the southern region Moscow seized in the year 2014.
